[August 24, 2005] THE GREAT KAT...
"The Great Kat can outplay just about every guitarist on the planet. She can zoom up and down a fretboard faster than a hungry cheetah on steroids. Her fretboard speed is awesome," states Guitar Player Editor Michael Molenda (Sept. 2005 issue). The World's Fastest Female Guitar Shredder, THE GREAT KAT,has now shredded her way into an historic interview in "GUITAR PLAYER" Magazine's September 2005 issue in the feature entitled "SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED," written by Michael Molenda, Guitar Player's Editor. The article praises The Great Kat's revolutionary Shred/Classical guitar playing and music, "The Juilliard-trained violinist and guitar shredder transforms classical masterworks into speed-metal songs, rages like a demented dominatrix, spews blood, bears arms, exposes her goodies, and indulges in both mental and dramatic castrations," says Molenda. The Great Kat, also known as The High Priestess of Guitar Shred, can be seen blowing away audiences in the outrageously entertaining new highly-acclaimed hot-selling "Extreme Guitar Shred" DVD, available at most major retailers, including Target, Tower Records, NetFlix, CD Universe and more. [August 21, 2005] SWEDISH EROTICA... the band
MTM Music are happy to announce the release of "Too Daze Gone..." by critical acclaimed band SWEDISH EROTICA! One thing that always haunted and annoyed the band was the material, the embryo for the second album that never got released due to their label. They always felt it contained some of their best work. Now in 2005 MTM MUSIC is releasing this album, the 7-track demo with Mats Levén on vocals, along with the earlier demo tracks which is now part of Erotica history. Times have changed, people have since then moved on, trends have come and gone and along with the latest metal and glam revival down memory lane and resurrection boulevard this just might fit right in. Originally titled SWEDISH BEAUTY, SWEDISH EROTICA date back to the mid 80s, but have been plagued by ever shifting line up problems. The debut album “Swedish Erotica” entered the Swedish charts in 1989 and the line up consisted of vocalist Mats Leven, Axx and Jensen on guitars, Jonas Tangström on bass and ex D.D. BAND drummer Bjarne Olsson. Leven was to leave in 1990 for TREAT and ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA. More recently Mats has been working with YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TALISMAN and SOUTHPAW. However, upon the release of the second album 'Blind Man's Justice' SWEDISH EROTICA was put on ice. The line-up is: Mats Leven (vocals), Magnus Axx (guitar), Morgan Le Fay (guitar), B.C. Strike (bass), Johnny D'Fox (drums). The album is released in October 24th, 2005 a golden “MTM 10-Years Anniversary Edition”.

[August 19, 2005] MAJESTIC ROCK News
Steeler's Metal Generation - The Steeler Anthology is a mixture of rare and unreleased material that neatly tells the full story of the Ron Keel fronted band. With sleeve notes by Ron himself, a selection of rare photos and even some live Malmsteen era material, there's a lot on offer. It should be pointed out here that the live material is not of the same high quality of the studio material but was, because of it's vintage and archive value, considered worthy of inclusion. Metal Generation is released in Europe on September 26th and Japan - with bonus track Metal Generation - on September 28th. Cry Havoc have their highly regarded Fuel That Feeds The Fire debut album reissued in expanded, repackaged and remastered form as Refuel next month. With a bonus second disc containing six live tracks, Cry Havoc are currently hard at work on their second album, due for release in the first quarter of 2006. [August 14, 2005] EDGUY Invite Michael Kiske for new EP
EDGUY's upcoming EP »Superheroes«, due on Sep 5, will feature a special guest appearance by former HELLOWEEN frontman Michael Kiske. Commented EDGUY singer Tobias Sammet: "One of the tracks is a bombastic uptempo epic that's reminiscent of a mixture of heavy QUEEN, RICHARD WAGNER and AVANTASIA. So it was a MUST to ask Michael Kiske to do some guest vocals. To me, music is about goose bumps, and I had a lot when listening to Michi! To make it fair, we have decided that the CD shall be out in stores for the price of a CD single only! "The »Superheroes« EP will feature five songs. Four of those are exclusive to this release! Also on Sep 5, EDGUY will release »Superheroes - The DVD«. It will contain the brand new video clip 'Superheroes', a couple of songs filmed live in Brazil, plenty of "behind-the-scenes" footage, a slide show, an extensive studio report with interviews and a chance to follow EDGUY backstage.

[August 12, 2005] CLOVEN HOOF... reunited again
Cloven Hoof are back together and their new album will be entitled Eye Of The Sun. This in from the band: "The band would like to thank the fans for being the most loyal and patient supporters anyone could wish for. The XZEC Records web site has already logged up over 49,000 hits. Because the expectations of the fans is so high, nothing less than the best ever Cloven Hoof album is required. The sound production and content had to be perfect, and it is true to say the band has been trying to get Tom Galley to take the production helm since 1984! Tom has always worked with musicians of the highest calabre such as Brian May, Cozy Powell, Neil Murray, John Thomas, Glenn Hughes, Ted McKenna, Mel Galley, Don Airey, Peter Green, John Wetton, Ray Gillan, Scott Gorham, the list goes on... Well in 2005 the HOOF finally got there man, so prepare for a masterwork of true epic metal! Absolute Power Cloven Hoof 2005 style. True metal at it's best! We have been meticulous in playing everything as tight as we possibly can to get the maximum attack and power. The new band members are as good as they come in the studio. Andy and Lynch are like a human metronomes, and everyone is meticulous about getting the best possible results onto tape. Tom Galley has really driven us on in the making of our best ever album, because he understands that Cloven hoof are about epic song concepts. He has helped refine and layer our sound to make everything slick and hard hitting. Now you get class melody with thrash like power and multi-time changes, something no other producer has understood. All the songs are equally as good because we wanted the fans to get total value for money, (We always try to do this), but this time we dug really deep. The fans can feel equally proud of the new album because they were inspirational throughout with words of encouragement. We are a band with a score to settle after being held back by legal red tape for so long. It has been like being released from hell, but life is good again now that we can play our music to true metal fans once more. It is frightening what a tight unit Cloven Hoof will be in a future live situation. Already there is an ESP like vibe throughout the players. We instinctively know how each other phrases the music. Staccato parts are so in time that they hurt! Rehearsals are a lot of fun, the old songs are sounding new and fresh again and the set list will be really impressive. It is hard to know which tracks to leave out."

[August 12, 2005] BLIND GUARDIAN: New Drummer
BLIND GUARDIAN have announced a replacement for drummer Thomen Stauch, who left the band in April after 20 years. The new man behind the kit is fellow German Frederik Ehmke, so far fairly unknown in the world of Metal. The band released the following statement: "A few weeks ago an unknown guy who introduced himself as Frederik Ehmke applied for the job as a drummer in a fairly firm manner. His vital, expressive and skillful performances of some B.G. classics ('Journey Through The Dark', 'Time Stands Still' and 'And Then There Was Silence') blew us away completely . Pretending not to be convinced we invited him to do a shoot out recording session under real production terms to check out if the creative chemistry would also work out fine. After finishing these recordings it was obvious to us: Frederik is going to be our new drummer!"The production of BLIND GUARDIAN's debut on NUCLEAR BLAST will start in late August with the help of Charlie Bauerfeind. No album title has been set yet, but it looks like there will be a total of ten songs. The release of the first single is planned for February 2006, the album will follow in April, before the band embarks on a world tour in June/August.

My boys need me."His replacement is Lee Altus, who played with fellow Bay Area thrashers HEATHEN and DIE KRUPPS. As Holt commented, Altus "was not only the best guy for this job, he was the only one. No one else was ever considered." Altus already played on the new album »Shovel Headed Kill Machine«, which is scheduled for an Oct 4th release and described by Holt as "an achievment in heaviness". [August 9, 2005] SWINGIN'THING @ SunCity Records
Suncity Records are extremely proud to announce the signing of Swingin' Thing. Swingin' Thing ruled the strip back in the hey day but never had the chance to get a full-length album out until now. Suncity Records are putting together 2 full-length albums that 'are bound to kick your butt'. "These albums are the perfect glam CD's, written about fast cars, summertime girls, partying and just havin' a good time. This material is bound to lift your spirits." Signed to a Japanese label in the early 90's called Monster Productions, Swingin' Thing found themselves touring throughout Japan and ultimately, that's where they enjoyed most of their success. The tracks the label will be releasing will be straight from DAT tapes and will undergo the re-mastering process. These glamsters did most of their recordings at A&R studios is Hollywood, which is the reason the production is of excellent quality. Back in 1998, indie label Bombastic Plastic released a self-titled album by The Things, which were the same band only they had a more punkish influence to their music. Chris Penketh, the guitarist from Swingin' Thing was telling me that they always wanted to be a punk band but changed their sound to fit in with the whole hard rock boom. The label continues: "But not here, no punk influences! Everything you could want in a band from the Sunset Strip, gang backing vocals run supreme, guitar chops Satriani would be proud of, great attitude on the vocal ala Vince Neil. These guys had everything Motley Crue had and more but as we all know, justice wasn't served back in the late 80's, early 90's

Besides the fact that the SILVER debut album “Silver” (2001) had sensational sales figures in Europe, it even held the number 1 position in the Japanese import charts for about 5 weeks. [August 2, 2005] GZR-Ohmwork in stores now.Possible tour with Tony Iommi this fall!
The band GZR, led by legendary Black Sabbath bass guitarist and lyricist Geezer Butler, new studio album Ohmwork is in stores now through Sanctuary Records. Ohmwork is Butler's first album in eight years. Butler is joined by vocalist Clark Brown and guitarist Pedro Howse, his longtime collaborators, and new drummer Chad Smith. A potent, tangible band dynamic is crucial for Butler. He does not ever want an album credited to "Geezer Butler" when it is a true band effort. Butler is proud of the fact that GZR's music appeals to both young metal fans as well as Black Sabbath fans. He attributes this fact about cross-generational appeal to heavy metal's very essence. Rumors are floating that GZR may tour with Tony Iommi in the Fall 2005.
