STARBREAKER with Tony Harnell will return with a new album to be released 2008 vai Frontiers (Zink/Bonnier).

There has been much speculation as to what Tony Harnell’s next move would be after leaving TNT in April 2006; we can now reveal that Tony will be teaming up with the Starbreaker gang for the creation of Starbreaker II.

The line up has gone through a change and on this new release we introduce Swedish bass player Tomas Johansson (Lizette&, Scaar). Together with the rest of the band: Vocals - Tony Harnell (TNT, Westworld, Morning Wood), Guitar-Magnus Karlsson (Last Tribe, Allen/Lande, Bob Catley), Drums - John Macaluso (Union Radio, Ark, TNT, Yngwie Malmsteen), an album will be ready for release early 2008. The album will be written and co-produced by Tony Harnell & Magnus Karlsson and both are excited to take Starbreaker to the next level: Tony comments: “ After having taken some valuable time off with my family I am ready and excited to jump into this project. As I really enjoyed the first Starbreaker album, it felt only natural to do a second one. In addition to Starbreaker, the song writing for my first solo album is well under way and I have some killer tracks I am absolutely thrilled with!”

We can expect more fantastic vocal work with deep and thoughtful lyrics by one of the most respected and revered singers today backed by one hell of a band. Guitarist Magnus Karlsson continues to be a major force on the European music scene with his fiery fretwork and classy song writing skills. John Macaluso is fresh off his critically acclaimed solo release “Union Radio”, and Tomas Johansson is a long time veteran of the Swedish metal scene, his latest work can be heard on “This Is” by Swedish Industrial rockers Lizette&.

With a unique hard-hitting sound that marries modern progressive metal with sing-able songs, we are all in for a treat.

The band will follow up the album release with some high profile appearances.

CHRIS SQUIRE's "FISH OUT OF WATER" will be reissued as a "DELUXE EXPANDED EDITION".

First released in November 1975, Fish Out Of Water is Chris Squire's first and only solo venture outside of the sphere of Yes. Peaking at number 25, the album spent seven weeks in the UK album charts. This re-mastered deluxe expanded edition released in conjunction with Chris Squire's record label, Stone Ghost, adds an additional DVD disc containing promo videos for the tracks Hold Out Your Hand and You By My Side, featuring the London Symphony Orchestra. Also included is an interview with Chris talking about the album and a track-by-track synopsis. Finally, the previously US only version of Lucky Seven (edited by Tom Dowd) has been added to the audio portion of the CD, making the release a welcome addition for any collector of Yes related material.

As founder and the only constant member throughout all of the Yes line-up permutations, bassist Chris Squire has earned his place as one of the UK's most accomplished and flamboyant musicians. Born in Kingsbury, North West London, Chris gravitated towards playing bass guitar and purchased his first Rickenbacker after persuading his then music store boss to begin importing them from the US, whereupon the young Chris was able to obtain a model at the reduced cost price. Following stints with a number of bands formed with school friends and local musicians (The Selfs and The Syn), Chris joined Mabel Greer's Toyshop in January 1968 and over the course of that year the first commonly recognised Yes line-up came into being.

AXEL RUDI PELL's new album "Diamonds Unlocked" will be an all-covers affair with tracks by by ccts Like The Who, U2, Kiss, Free & Phil Collins.

For over 25 years, Axel Rudi Pell has counted as one of Germanys most versatile guitarists. With over a dozen studio albums, he has a record of brilliant productions, loved by his fans and greeted with respect and praise by the press. Alongside numerous original compositions, cover versions of his favourite songs have always taken a special place in his work. The musician from Wattenscheid, Germany, has not only covered the work of his own idols, such as Deep Purple and Rainbow, but also numbers by acts such as Alphaville, Free, Jimi Hendrix and Uriah Heep. Now Pell is scheduled to release Diamonds Unlocked on October 1, 2007 (Germany: September 28, USA tba), his first album consisting exclusively of compositions by other musicians, proving his expertise when it comes to the history of rock and pop music. Axel Rudi Pell has recorded ten cover songs, among them surprising new versions of real classics. I have always stressed that I dont have a hard rock and metal fixation, he points out. I dont think in terms of pigeonholes. If I like a track for whatever reason, I dont care about its stylistic direction. Every song on this album made me want to cover it at some stage when I heard the original.

Pell is referring to tracks such as the Phil Collins megahit ˜In The Air Tonight, his own version sounding tailor-made for the ARP band. Of course we rearranged some of the songs to suit our style 100%, the maestro explains. In The Air Tonight features an extra drums and percussions part, plus added speed towards the end. And I dont suppose I have to mention that the guitar solo is longer than on the original. Equally surprising, although certainly logical in this context, is the extremely catchy U2 number, ˜Beautiful Day, and the Chris Rea song Stone, which Pell discovered in a rather roundabout way. It wasnt Chris Reas original that convinced me but the cover version by The Law, a project initiated by Free/Bad Company/Queen vocalist Paul Rodgers and ex-The Who drummer Kenny Jones, from their 1991 debut album. Talking of Free and The Who: the ARP version of Wont Get Fooled Again sounds extremely classy and fast-paced, and ˜Heartbreaker sees Pell present a classic by a band that has had a lasting influence on him. Free inspired me to learn to play the guitar. Their guitarist Paul Kossoff had this extremely singing, melancholy blues sound that set him apart from thousands of other guitarists.

"Diamonds Unlocked" was recorded by the tried and tested line-up consisting of Axel Rudi Pell, vocalist Johnny Gioeli, keyboardist Ferdy Doernberg, bassist Volker Krawczak and drummer Mike Terrana. Pell produced the album single-handedly, and Charlie Bauerfeind took care of the mix.

TRACKS:
The Diamond Overture * Warrior (Riot) * Beautiful Day (U2) * Stone (Chris Rea/The Law) * Love Gun (Kiss) * Fools Game (Michael Bolton) * Heartbreaker (Free) * Rock The Nation (Montrose) * In The Air Tonight (Phil Collins) * Like A Child Again (The Mission) * Won´t Get Fooled Again (The Who)

MICHAEL BORMANN has sent out a news update of his recent and future activities. He has just finished recordings of the new albums of two Swiss bands, Crystal Ball and Sahara Rain. Both albums will feature songs co-written by Michael. Those albums are to be released in the near future, but meanwhile, there are several recent albums out featuring Michael Bormann in some capacity. Bloodbound's second album "Book Of The Dead" features him on lead vocals, while Mark Sweeney's first solo album "Slow Food" and Steel Dawn's "(R)EXcuse me!" sees him taking the role of a producer/songwriter.

The long-awaited Redrum album "No Turning Back" will be released on 24 August by Sleaszy Rider Records. The band will play live at the Rockwave Festival 2007 in Greece. They will participate in the first day (29 June), together with Europe, Chris Cornell and Robert Plant.

Later this year, Bormann has a few projects lined up: in August he'll produce and co-write the first solo-album of TEMPESTA-frontman Reto Thalmann. It will be more of a country-pop album with possible American guitarists guesting. He is also going to sing on HUMAN FORTRESS-axeman Thorsten Wolf's new "Trophy" project. What's more, Bormann's first solo album will be reissued with some new tracks, and there are already plans to record his third solo album for a January/February 2008 release.

M3 are set to release a live album called "ROUGH AN' READY" on & August 2007.

Answering the call from thousands of fans, over many years, for the reformation of the classic Whitesnake line-up, founding guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody along with original bass player Neil Murray joined together as M3 to deliver, once again, the greatest hits which first jettisoned the blues based hard rock band to worldwide recognition. Completing the M3 musical pedigree and breathing a new lease of life into the classic Whitesnake canon is Magnum's long-standing keyboard player, Mark Stanway, ex Upp drummer Jimmy Copley and the gold-throated Scandinavian vocalist Stefan Berggren.

Recorded in front of a sold-out and fanatical crowd in June 2004, Rough An' Ready replicates the golden age of Whitesnake with the very best of their blues based, hard rock repertoire. Executed with passion and precision by the very members who first wrote and recorded this classic material, guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody along with bassist Neil Murray illustrate how 'Snake' greats such as Ready An' Willing, Fool For Your Loving, Ain't Gonna Cry No More and Don't Break My Heart Again should be played - by the hands of the master craftsmen who first immortalised these tracks in the studio. Also making a guest appearance is ex. Rainbow vocalist Dougie White on the worldwide hit, Here I Go Again.

TURISAS' latest Battle Metal opus “The Varangian Way” went to number 17 in their native Finnish album charts. The band's greetings can be viewed at YouTube.

Turisas will play at their native Finnish metal festival TUSKA on Friday at 19:30, and they've just been added to the line up of Ruisrock Festival as well.

After 2 months of searching, Dutch progressive metalband CIRRHA NIVA has found a new vocalist to replace the recently departed Arnold Kloek. The new singers name is Legrand and he did an amazing 5-song audition. He learned the songs in only a few weeks and was very convincing while performing for and with the band. The minute they started playing the first song, it felt so good that the band offered Legrand the job right after the audition.

It has been a long journey since CIRRHA NIVA began writing songs for a new album. Since their last album "Liaison De La Morte" (a rock opera, released in 2001) the band had their share of problems. When the "Liaison De La Morte" Tour ended in 2002, they immediately started working on new ideas. Halfway 2003 band members Liselotte Hegt (bass & vocals) and Rommert van der Meer (guitar) left the band. It wasn't until 2004 that the band found new musicians to replace them. With Carlo Heefer on guitar and Daniël Huijben on bass guitar, the band kicked off 2004. They continued writing songs, but faced difficulties with the vocal melodies. In 2006 it became clear that singer Arnold and the band were having musical differences. Although they tried to resolve whatever the problem was, it was inevitable that Arnold was leaving the band. Arnold has been CIRRHA NIVA's vocalist since 1998. His own statement;

"Yes, almost 10 years I have been the singer of Cirrha Niva. Years I will never forget. But times change and so do I. In the last year of being busy with writing songs it slowly became clear to me that I was not really happy with the way and the direction the other guys wanted to go with the melody lines and style of singing. In other words, we have grown apart in musical ways. Therefore I have decided to leave Cirrha Niva. It was not an easy decision but I need to be honest to everyone and myself. Not being happy affected my creativity more and more. It started to leave a mark on the band and that is not a good thing. I would like to thank Carlo, Daniel, Rob and Tommy for all the good times we had and wish them good luck in the future. And I would like to thank everyone who supported us all those years. I also thank the crewmembers for all their effort, time and energy. You guys and girls rule!!! So I close this door behind me to open other doors with new roads to follow. You will soon hear from me again. All the best, Arnold Kloek"

Luckily CIRRHA NIVA has found a great new singer in Legrand and with him they hope to start recording a new album by the end of this year. Besides learning all songs already written by the band, Legrand can immediatly prove himself also in the writing process. The band has recently written some more new songs which still needs to have vocal melodies and lyrics. Legrand's personal bio will be added to the band's website in a few days.

Meanwhile we can also mention that drummer Tommy White has been featured on a live DVD by Dutch rockband Alter Ego X. During the first three months of 2007, Chris, Ramon and William Lee of the band Alter Ego X, have been working on their next release a DVD titled "Not For Intellectuals", with producer Tony DeBlock mixing the DVD soundtrack. Filmed on November 5th 2006, the DVD shows the band in top-form, with their ex-drummer Tommy White as guest musician on drums for the first time since November 1995. White's presence was felt as the band played 4 tracks of the "No Holding Back album", which the band recorded back in 1995 when he was in the band. Apart from this roaring live-registration, the DVD will contain a few extras as a sincere thank you to the loyal fans of Alter Ego X. The DVD will be independently released in the summer of 2007.

A Night Of "Mayhem" Benefit Concert will take place in Dallas on July 13.

Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson was truly larger than life. At 6-foot, 8 inches tall and tipping the scales at more than 350 pounds, his physical stature alone could support this statement. However, Mayhem was much more than a giant man. What he did with his life is a legacy that will shine on not only in the hearts of the people who knew and loved him, but the people who have yet to meet him. His is a story that continues to be told and will continue to inspire.

Jeffery was born on September 21, 1964, to Frank and Christine Thompson. He was the older brother to triplets Seth, Micah and Martin. During his 40 years on this earth, Mayhem became a master of building and repairing all things mechanical. A true Renaissance man, he was also a live actor at the Scarborough and Texas Renaissance Festivals, and a television actor for Ruffles Potato Chips and 7-11 commercials. He even appeared as a supporting actor on the hit series Walker Texas Ranger. He was a radio shock jock sidekick for KEGL, a musician, a Dallas club bouncer, a personal bodyguard for celebrities and rock-n-roll royalty, and head of security for the heavy metal band Damageplan.

More than all of his professional titles combined, Mayhem was an extremely dedicated and loyal friend-the kind of friend whom death itself could not intimidate! Sadly, on December 8, 2004, while on the road in Columbus, Ohio with long-time friends Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul Abbott and the rest of the Damageplan crew, Mayhem's life was taken away from us when a crazed gunman ran onto stage, senselessly attacking and killing guitarist Darrell Abbott. Mayhem was on the attacker in less than a second. Regardless of the 4 shots which were already fired, he was committed to protecting his friends and the audience from the armed killer. During the struggle, the killer fired two fatal shots at point blank range. Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson died a hero, placing the safety of others ahead of himself. He fell with two other heroes-audience member Nathan Bray and venue security member Erin Halk, who bravely took to the stage to give assistance and subdue the killer. The rampage finally ended when first responding police officer James Niggemeyer shot and killed the attacker.

Now we pay tribute to Jeffery "Mayhem" Thompson, celebrating both his life and the lives of Darrell Abbott, Nathan Bray, and Erin Halk. Mongo Production and MJS Music Publications present "A Night Of Mayhem." This event will feature live music by 6 bands, including Hillbilly Orchestra, Mother Truckin' Skull Diggers, Texas Hippie Coalition, and Mark John Sternal. Special guests include: Seth Thompson, Officer James Niggemeyer, and rock author and photographer Chris A.

A new book, A Vulgar Display Of Power: Courage and Carnage at the Alrosa Villa (AVDOP), will also be on sale. It is written by Chris A., with a foreword by Officer Niggemeyer, and a memorial written by Frank Thompson. AVDOP is the authorized biography of Mayhem, Bray, and Halk. A book signing table will be set up at the venue.

Tickets are $10 at the door, and books will be sold for $16.00. The concert takes place on Friday, July 13 at 7pm, at the Lakewood Theater located at 1825 Abrams Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75214.

The mental disorder called Paranoid Schizophrenia is what drove the killer to cause these tragic deaths. Thus, the Thompson family has requested that this concert be for the benefit of an institution that assists in the campaign to treat and cure such a disease. "A Night Of Mayhem" is a charitable event in which 100% of all proceeds from ticket and book sales will benefit a mental illness organization.

HELIX will release their 11th full length studio album " The Power of Rock and Roll" on 20 August. It will mark a return to the platinum and gold plated sound of "No Rest for the Wicked" and "Walking the Razor's Edge". It features 6 tracks that originally appeared on the 2007 EP, "Get Up" and includes a re- recorded version of the heavyweight hit single, "Heavy Metal Love", which appears in the Trailer Park Boys movie, "The Big Dirty". Other brain-melting anthems include the deliciously titled "The Past is Back to Kick Your Ass", "Nickles & Dimes", "Livin' Life Large" and the title track. All in all "The Power of Rock and Roll" is a must for practitioners of cruisin', party-favour, good-time R 'n' R.

Known for their play hard/party hard ethic coupled with a highly infectious stage show, Helix became Canada's most successful heavy metal band. Starting life in Kitchner, Ontario in 1974, the Helix Field Band played a relentless and colourful array of local bars, outdoor shows, private parties and rodeo drinking houses until the services of local agent Bill Seip guided the band along a more rewarding path. Shortening their name to the more digestible Helix, a self-financed album, Breaking Loose was released in 1979 with money donated by Seip and the band's family. Appearing on the H&S (Helix & Seip) label, the album was re-pressed several times and went on to sell 10,000 copies. Two years later a follow-up H&S album, White Lace & Black Leather gained Helix further attention and was released in both Germany and the U.K. Finally a worldwide deal with Capitol Records brought the band further widespread acclaim with albums such as No Rest for the Wicked (1983) and Walkin' the Razor's Edge (1984), platinum and gold sales and Juno Award nominations. Although having undergone numerous line-up changes, Helix carry on under the exact same hedonistic ethic, delivering contagious metal albums and a veracious rock 'n' roll show. The band has just signed an eight record deal with Sanctuary Records.

NUERRA RECORDS, the previous label to guitarist Neil Zaza indicates that they are preparing legal action against Dream On Music (Korea), Rock Empire (Taiwan) and Neil Zaza. On January 01, 2001 Nuerra Records entered into a licensing agreement with Rock Empire and December 01, 2002 with Dream On for the Zaza titles, "Staring at the Sun" and "Sing". Since this time, both Dream On and Rock Empire have failed to make accounting and or payment's to Nuerra for the royalties indicated in their respective agreements. Recently, demand letters were sent from Nuerra Attorney's in Los Angeles.

Mr. Space K. Chen of Rock Empire, claims, "there is no stock for these titles and we don't manufacture it anymore ". However, despite long term efforts made by Nuerra, both companies continue to actively market Zaza along with two additional Nuerra titles from Michael Lee Firkins - "Decomposition" and Jettison Eddy - "Trippin on Time". Both of these titles licensed to Dream On also remain unaccounted for, says Michael Phelan of Nuerra Records.

Phelan continues by saying that we would prefer to utilize our professional lives and creative resources in more effective ways. However, when your financial interests rely within companies on the other side of the world, whom have otherwise ignored our numerous polite attempts, that becomes difficult. Hopefully, we can create some much needed "ethical proactivity" from all of the parties involved", Phelan said. Mr. Chen from Rock Empire issued a written statement to Nuerra saying, "I believe God will damn you and this behavior like a blood sucker deserves punishment to go hell".

HELLOWEEN are planning a lot of activities for the latter part of 2007. A tour with GAMMA RAY will kick off mid of November this year, and the line up will be completed by 1-2 additional acts. Apart from very few festival appearances, this will be the first time ever both bands touring together and bears the possibility of Kai Hansen -GAMMA RAY leader and ex- HELLOWEEN member- entering the stage to jam one or the other classic Helloween-song with his former band mates! "This is going to be a historical event for all Helloween fans, we are looking forward to have Kai and his band on our tour with us" states Helloween guitarist Michael Weikath.

It is also planned –but not confirmed- to expand this promising package to the territories of South East Asia, North and South America.

Dani Löble has re-entered Andi Deris´ Mi Sueno Studios on Tenerife to start the second part of his recordings for the forthcoming studio album. The working title of the band’s 12th studio record is "Gambling With The Devil" which release is once again scheduled on Halloween the 31st of October.

The band will reissue the band’s historical T-shirts. Shortly the T-shirts with the classical “Mini LP”-, “Walls Of Jericho”- and “Keeper Of The Seven Keys – Part I”-motives will be available again. Coming up – in a chronological order – more historical T-shirts will be reissued. More details on the shop section soon!

The JOURNEY / JEFF SCOTT SOTO breakup discussion has dominated the melodic rock message boards. There are already rumours of the new singer floating around... One thing's clear, the Journey fans are shocked about the treatment that JSS has gotten, and rightly so. If you want to have a look at some of the debate, here are some links of relevance:

Not so surprisingly, the Back Talk Forum at www.journeymusic.com has been down for the last couple of days.

[13 June 2007]

JOURNEY and JEFF SCOTT SOTO have parted ways. From Journeymusic.com:

Jeff’s first appearance with Journey was July 7, 2006 in Bristow, VA. He had been filling in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the tour shortly after it began on June 23 due to illness. Jeff’s last performance was May 12, 2007 in Leesburg, VA.

According to guitarist Neal Schon, “We appreciate all of Jeff’s hard work and we can’t thank him enough for stepping in when Steve Augeri got sick last year. He did a tremendous job for us and we wish him the best. We’ve just decided to go our separate ways, no pun intended. We’re plotting our next move now."

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain continues, “We were lucky to have a friend who was already a Journey fan step in on a moment’s notice during the Def Leppard tour to help us out. Jeff was always the consummate professional and we hope that he remains a friend of the band in the future. We just felt it was time to go in a different direction.”

Journey--Neal Schon (guitar), Ross Valory (bass), Jonathan Cain (keyboards) and Deen Castronovo (drums)—is taking the rest of 2007 off to spend time with their families, write new songs and map out plans for 2008.

Jeff Scott Soto has briefly commented: "This is the version released without my involvement, mine will be out soon."

DAVID READMAN’s self titled debut album will be released via Frontiers (Zink/Bonnier in Scandinavia) on August 31st 2007. Best known as singer for PINK CREAM 69, David also appeared on album from Adagio and from studio projects such as Missa Mercuria and on the more recent Andersen / Laine / Readman cd.

After David left the French Power Metal outfit Adagio in 2005, he started to gather material for a solo album which has always been his ultimate dream. "I did a lot myself from writing the songs, to recording organizing the whole thing" says David, "Dennis Ward (David’s bandmate in PC69) recorded the drums over 2 sessions and also mixed the record. If I was to thank something it would be the Internet, strange I know but without it would have taken even longer. And I wouldn't have met all the great people who played on the record, especially Paul Logue (of Eden’s Course) who played bass and wrote 2 songs with me".

David has worked hard on the songwriting. He explains: "There are a few songs that wouldn't have made it on a PC69 cd because of style, with this record I was able to experiment a little. When you work this way it becomes your baby, you’re making all the decisions. It’s not always easy to keep a song interesting from the start to the finish. So that was a lot of work, but that’s what I wanted"

Recording started already during 2006, but David needed a long break (for the recording of PC 69’s latest opus "In10sity"), so that resumed the work in February 2007 and finally delivered the album in the spring time.

"I am very happy with the record, it was a big deal for me a real learning-curve. I'm also interested to hear what the people have to say about it, I’m very inpatient", concludes the Burnley-born british singer.

The line-up appearing on "David Readman" includes Paul Logue (Eden’s Curse) on bass, Dirk Bruinenberg (Elegy) and Chris Schmidt on drums, Eric Ragno (ex Takara) and Günter Werno (Vandenplas) on keyboards and Alex Beyrodt (Silent Force), Gerald Sänger, Tommy Denander and bandmate Uwe Reitenauer on guitars. David also plays guitars and keyboards. Production duties are handled by Dennis Ward.

Tracklisting includes: Without You; Evil Combination; Take These Tears; Don't Let It Slip Away; No Peace For The Wicked; Long Way To Heaven; Wild In The City; Gentle Touch; Prisoner Of Shame; New Messiah; Over The Ocean; Love In Vain. Don't Let It Slip Away (bonus multimedia video track which can be already watched on the Frontiers Records my space page).

Samples:
Without You
Take These Tears
Don't Let It Slip Away
Long Way To Heaven

It's safe to say that fans of Pink Cream 69 and David Readman will not be disappointed with this record, who sets the style in Melodic Hard Rock, with soaring hooklines and in-your face guitars. Don’t miss "David Readman" in all fine shops on August 31st 2007 on Frontiers Records with a release in Japan scheduled on King Records.

MARK WILLIAMSON, the singer of TRW, the exciting brand new trio also featuring guitarist extraordinaire Michael Thompson and master-drummer John Robinson, has sent out his track by track comments about the songs included in the debut album “Rivers of Paradise” out on Frontiers Records.

Set My Spirit Free: this one came straight from the heart for me. Also feels like a great way to start the CD & a live show, setting up Rivers of Paradise.
Rivers Of Paradise: I love Rivers, it kicks in serious fashion! Great guitars & drums!
Hold On: is such a cool groove – classic JR, burning guitars and a great unexpected vocal segue into Indiscretion.
Indiscretion: I love the vibe of this one and this is a rare song with a message, if you can figure it out!
Gonna Be Some Changes: cool vibe, the other nearly message song – we all have changes to make.
Only a Letter: this one tells a story song about a guy who looses his one good woman… I guess we’ve all lost something or someone, sometime.
Hard Time Love: it’s not the easy times that make you a stronger person, it’s definitely the hard times. GREAT groove!
One Good Woman: this one rocks! You don’t need a bunch, just one!!
Love Comes Calling: yeah baby!! Be ready when it does…
Alimony Blues: be ready when it leaves! My favourite song on the CD… I wanted her to have the house… NOT!!!

STARZ will release a new live album on 9 July. "Come Out At Night" documents Starz' performance at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio in September 2004. Released for the first time and mastered under the supervision of Starz founder and guitarist Richie Ranno, this complete show highlights classic tracks such as Cherry Baby, Pull The Plug, Subway Terror and Sing It, Shout It. The set reinforces the band's unrequited star status and serves as a timely reminder of the band's power and effect on those lucky enough to be caught in its incandescent glare.

Although shining brilliantly against the 1970s Rock 'n' Roll firmament, the seemingly rapid and all too brief career arc of these U.S. melodic hard rockers still baffles fans and the press alike, whilst fellow musicians (Jon Bon Jovi, Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, the Wildhearts' Ginger and Metallica's Lars Ulrich) cite Starz as a major influence on their own song writing.

Signing to Capitol Records and represented by Kiss' Bill Aucoin for Rock Steady management, Starz seemed set for a glorious career but a combination of business failings conspired to cheat the band of a rewarding long term career. Fortunately Starz' ability to perform a blinding rock show and capture the hearts of American rock fans never waned and their recent reformation has been greeted with tremendous enthusiasm from all quarters.

FAST EDDIE CLARKE's "ANTHOLOGY" will be released on 16 July. Primarily known as one-third of the classic Motorhead line-up who recorded the perennial speed metal classic, Ace Of Spades, guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke has enjoyed a career in the hard rocking fast lane for nearly 34 years and is showing no sign of hanging up the bullet belt just yet.

Turning professional in 1973 and taking the lead guitar slot in the Curtis Knight band, Zeus (a position held by Jimi Hendrix in a previous Curtis Knight incarnation), Eddie recorded two albums, later splintering to form Blue Goose and then Continuous Performance. Joining Motorhead in 1975, Eddie's six-year stay with the band resulted in what some maintain to be the most fruitful period of their career, peaking with the number one live album, No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith.

Forming Fastway with ex-UFO bassist Pete Way (who quit just before they signed to CBS) and ex-Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley, Eddie blazed forward, releasing several albums before embarking on a solo album career from 1994.

This Anthology is a 2-CD collection of Eddie Clarke's musical canon, taking in his varied steps onto the rock 'n' roll ladder via his collaborative ventures and then finally his solo work with Black Electric in the new millennium. Re-mastered by Eddie himself, the set comes complete with unseen photographs from his personal archive.

Fastway will be reforming to play Download Festival and Sweden Rock this summer.
